On Thursday, Pema Khandu was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh for the third consecutive term. Chowna Mein also took the oath as the Deputy Chief Minister. The ceremony was attended by prominent leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and other Union Ministers like JP Nadda and Kiren Rijiju, along with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The swearing-in follows the BJP’s resounding victory in the 2024 Arunachal Pradesh assembly elections, where the party secured 46 out of 60 seats. Governor Lieutenant General KT Parnaik (retd) invited Khandu to form the government after he was re-elected as the leader of the BJP legislature party in the state.
Pema Khandu first assumed office as Chief Minister in 2016 and has since continued to lead the state.
