The Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, H.E. Sheikh Hasina, met with the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
President Murmu warmly welcomed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, expressing her delight at meeting her again shortly after the new government’s swearing-in ceremony. She emphasized that these regular interactions highlight the enduring spirit of friendship and cooperation that has its roots in Bangladesh’s Liberation War of 1971.
President Murmu acknowledged the significant economic progress Bangladesh has made under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. She noted the rapid advancement in India-Bangladesh cooperation across various sectors and expressed confidence in the continued strengthening of their bilateral relationship.
During their cordial conversation, both leaders agreed to work together to enhance relations across all domains, including economic ties, development partnerships, defense cooperation, energy security, and connectivity.
This visit marks the first State Visit hosted by India since the formation of the new government on June 9, 2024.
