Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in an online ceremony on Sunday, released three books chronicling the life and journey of former Vice President of India, Venkaiah Naidu. These books were unveiled on the eve of Naidu’s 75th birthday via video conference.
The books released include a biography titled “Venkaiah Naidu – Life in Service”, another titled “Celebrating Bharat – The Mission and Message of Shri M Venkaiah Naidu as 13th Vice President of India”, and a photo chronicle and pictorial biography in Telugu titled “Mahaneta – Life and Journey of Shri M Venkaiah Naidu.”
Addressing the ceremony virtually, Prime Minister Modi expressed his belief that these books will inspire readers and guide them towards paths of national service. He remarked, “Tomorrow, July 1st, is Naidu Ji’s birthday. His life journey is completing 75 years. These 75 years have been of extraordinary achievements…I am happy that today I got the opportunity to release his biography along with two more books. I believe that these books will inspire people and show them the right path for national service.”
At the book launch event in Hyderabad, attended by Naidu and other prominent personalities, the PM reminisced about Naidu’s journey from a farmer’s family to holding significant positions in the country. He praised Naidu’s wit and wisdom, highlighting his enduring contributions during the Emergency of 1975 and as the chairperson of the Rajya Sabha, particularly his role in the passage of the Bill to abrogate Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir.
In response, Venkaiah Naidu thanked the PM for his leadership and initiatives benefiting the downtrodden and underprivileged sections of society. He emphasized the importance of balanced development and skill enhancement over dependency on freebies, stating, “A helping hand in the form of free ration is useful but skilled development is the need of the hour.”
The release of these books marks a tribute to Venkaiah Naidu’s life and his impactful contributions to India’s political landscape.
