Today in New Delhi, the Halwa ceremony, marking the final stage of preparations for the Union Budget 2024-25, was held with the presence of Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Minister of State for Finance Shri Pankaj Chaudhary.
The Halwa ceremony is a traditional event that takes place annually before the ‘lock-in’ process for officials involved in the Budget preparation begins. The Union Budget 2024-25 is scheduled to be presented on 23 July 2024.
All Union Budget documents, including the Annual Financial Statement, Demand for Grants, and Finance Bill, will be accessible on the “Union Budget Mobile App” for easy access by Members of Parliament (MPs) and the general public. The app is bilingual (English & Hindi) and will be available on both Android and iOS platforms.
The Budget documents will be available on the Mobile App after the Union Finance Minister completes her Budget Speech in Parliament on 23 July 2024.
During the Halwa Ceremony, the Union Finance Minister was joined by Secretaries of the Ministry of Finance and other senior government officials involved in the Budget preparation.
As part of the ceremony, the Union Finance Minister toured the Budget Press, reviewed the preparations, and extended her best wishes to the officials involved.
