On July 25, 2024, Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh visited the Vietnam Embassy in New Delhi to pay tribute to Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, who recently passed away. Representing the Government and people of India, Shri Singh extended his condolences to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai, the Ambassador Extraordinary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
During the visit, Shri Rajnath Singh laid a wreath and signed the book of condolences. In a post on X, he expressed India’s solidarity with Mr. Trong’s family, as well as the people and leadership of Vietnam during this period of mourning.
Shri Singh highlighted Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong’s significant role in fortifying the bilateral relationship between India and Vietnam, elevating it to a comprehensive strategic partnership. He emphasized the long-standing friendship and trust between the two nations.
