The Ministry of Women and Child Development organized a post-budget webinar today to discuss the Government’s policy initiatives aimed at boosting women’s participation in the workforce and the budgetary allocations for women-led development.
In her inaugural address, Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Smt. Annpurna Devi, highlighted the Government’s commitment to women-led development. She emphasized that under the Prime Minister’s leadership, the focus is on ensuring women’s physical and mental well-being, enhancing their skills, expanding income opportunities, increasing respect for women, and fostering their self-reliance. She reiterated the Government’s continuous efforts to provide quality childcare facilities in safe environments, promoting children’s nutrition, health, and cognitive development, and supporting working mothers in advancing their careers.
For the fiscal year 2024-25, the Central Government has allocated Rs 3.3 lakh crore across various Ministries/Departments for the welfare and empowerment of women. These funds are aimed at boosting women’s participation in the workforce, enhancing their safety and security, and establishing a supportive ecosystem with working women’s hostels and crèches.
The webinar featured discussions by the Secretary of the Ministry of WCD and representatives from UN Women, the World Bank, and other key organizations, highlighting the Union Budget’s provisions for women. Additionally, several State Governments shared their best practices and innovative approaches in providing hostel and crèche facilities for working women.
The Ministry remains dedicated to cultivating an inclusive and supportive environment nationwide for women-led development.
