Odisha Doctor Goes Missing in Wayanad Landslides During Vacation
Bishnuprasad Chinhara, a resident of Choudwar in Cuttack and a second-year postgraduate medical student in Bhubaneswar, has gone missing in the landslides that hit Wayanad, Kerala. Chinhara was on vacation with his wife, Priyadarshini Pal, and two other doctors. The group traveled to Bengaluru on July 26 and reached Wayanad on Monday.
While Priyadarshini Pal is reported to be safe and is currently hospitalized, the whereabouts of Bishnuprasad remain unknown. His father, Pramod Kumar Chinhara, has appealed to the state government for assistance in locating his son.
Priyadarshini Pal, a lecturer at a private nursing college near Cuttack, shared that she last spoke to her husband on Monday night while they were staying at a homestay. When the landslide occurred, the house they were in was swept away, but Priyadarshini survived by clinging to a wall.
The other members of the group include Swekruti Mohapatra, a third-year medical postgraduate student from the same college, and Swadhin Panda, a former student. Details about Swekruti, who is from Jharsuguda, remain limited.
The state control room at the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) office has been coordinating with Kerala’s disaster management authorities. Though information about two hospitalized individuals from Odisha has been received, specific details have not yet been shared.
