Reliance Jio’s Impact: Transforming India from ‘Data Dark’ to ‘Data Rich’, Says Mukesh Ambani
Reliance Jio has revolutionized India’s digital landscape, turning a ‘Data Dark India’ into a ‘Data Rich nation’ by providing affordable, high-speed 4G connectivity to millions of homes, according to Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, India’s largest private company.
In 2016, we embarked on a mission to make digital inclusion a reality with the launch of Jio 4G. This year, Jio has further enhanced the nation’s digital infrastructure by deploying its True5G network across India at an unprecedented speed, Ambani stated in the Reliance Industries annual report released on August 7.
A major milestone in Jio’s journey is the introduction of the JioBharat phone, aimed at bridging the digital divide. With the JioBharat phone, a smartphone priced like a feature phone, we are taking significant strides towards a 2G-free India, Ambani noted.
Through its subsidiaries, Jio Platforms and Reliance Jio, Reliance Industries is actively advancing in cutting-edge technologies such as AI/ML, AR/VR, robotics, and natural language processing.
The world is increasingly recognizing India as a hub of innovation, and Jio will continue to play a crucial role in building the nation’s digital infrastructure and capabilities, Ambani emphasized.
He also highlighted India’s evolving demographics as a key driver behind Reliance Industries’ growth. “With a working population of approximately 450 million and rising household incomes, the quality of life for common people is improving. As disposable incomes grow, the demand for goods and services is expanding rapidly,” Ambani added.
