Manish Sisodia, addressing Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers for the first time in 17 months after being granted bail, declared that the truth had finally prevailed. The former deputy chief minister of Delhi, released from Tihar jail in connection with the Delhi excise policy case, called on party members to fight against what he described as the “dictatorship” prevailing in the country.
Speaking to hundreds of AAP supporters at the party headquarters in Delhi, Sisodia targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), asserting that no one is more powerful than the Constitution. He urged people to resist this “dictatorship,” which, according to him, is not only imprisoning leaders but also harassing ordinary citizens.
Sisodia also claimed that efforts are being made to tarnish Arvind Kejriwal’s reputation. He suggested that if opposition leaders unite, the Delhi Chief Minister could be freed from jail within 24 hours. Reflecting on his own time in custody, Sisodia said that the support and tears of those waiting for him helped him endure the difficult period. He described himself and his fellow AAP workers as mere “horses of a chariot,” with Kejriwal as their true “saarthi” (charioteer), expressing hope for his swift release.
