Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep concern for those affected by the landslide in Wayanad, Kerala, and assured that the Central Government will provide every possible support to aid in relief efforts. He emphasized that the Centre stands firmly with the State Government to assist in all aspects of relief and recovery work.
During his visit to the landslide-affected areas in Wayanad, following an aerial survey, the Prime Minister met with injured patients and interacted with residents in relief camps. At a review meeting, PM Modi reassured the victims that the Central Government and the entire nation stand by them in this difficult time. He noted that the Chief Minister would send a detailed memorandum regarding the situation.
PM Modi also highlighted his ongoing involvement in monitoring the rescue efforts in Wayanad, remaining in constant contact with local authorities. He mentioned that disaster management funds had already been released, with additional funds to follow promptly.
The Prime Minister praised the swift response of central agencies, including NDRF, SDRF, the Army, State Police, local medical teams, NGOs, and other service-oriented organizations, which promptly initiated search and rescue operations in the disaster-struck area.
PM Modi also stressed the importance of developing long-term plans to support those affected, particularly children who have lost their families. He expressed confidence that the state government, with full backing from the Centre, would play a vital role in this effort.
The Prime Minister assured the people of Wayanad that the Central Government would spare no effort in restoring the region’s livelihood, including rebuilding homes, schools, and road infrastructure, and securing the future of the affected children.
