Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to start his official visit to Poland and Ukraine today, with a focus on enhancing bilateral relations and addressing a range of global issues.
PM Modi will arrive in Poland on August 21 and 22, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country in 45 years. During his stay in Warsaw, he will receive a ceremonial welcome and engage in discussions with President Andrzej Sebastian Duda and Prime Minister Donald Tusk. Modi will also meet with the Indian community in Poland.
According to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), this visit is expected to strengthen the bilateral partnership between India and Poland. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal noted that the visit will offer a chance to review and enhance cooperation in various areas while also addressing regional and global issues of shared interest.
Following Poland, PM Modi will travel to Ukraine, making this the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992. In Kyiv, Modi’s agenda will include discussions on political, trade, economic, educational, and cultural matters, as well as humanitarian assistance and people-to-people exchanges.
Jaiswal highlighted that the visit will address a broad spectrum of bilateral relations, including economic ties, agriculture, infrastructure, health, education, and defense. The ongoing conflict in Ukraine will also be a topic of discussion, with India’s stance favoring diplomacy and dialogue for a peaceful resolution. This visit follows India’s participation in the Summit for Peace in Ukraine hosted by Switzerland earlier this year.
Modi’s visit is poised to further consolidate and expand India’s engagement with both Poland and Ukraine.
