“A Nation United in Grief and Resolve: Prime Minister Addresses the Spirit of India in Mann Ki Baat”

RR Team, April 27, 2025April 28, 2025

Today, in the 121st episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat,’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation with a heavy heart, expressing deep anguish over the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22. He shared the collective pain felt across the country, stating that every Indian, regardless of region or language, grieves for the families who lost their loved ones. The Prime Minister condemned the cowardice behind the attack, emphasizing that it was a desperate attempt by the enemies of peace to destabilize Kashmir at a time when the region was witnessing unprecedented growth, prosperity, and optimism. He reaffirmed the nation’s unity and strength, assuring that the perpetrators would face the harshest punishment and that justice would be delivered.

The Prime Minister also shared how leaders from around the world have expressed solidarity with India, sending messages of support and condolences. He highlighted that the global community stands firmly with India in the fight against terrorism, and the resolve of 140 crore Indians remains India’s greatest strength in facing such challenges.

In a poignant moment, the Prime Minister paid tribute to Dr. K. Kasturirangan, the distinguished scientist and former head of ISRO, who recently passed away. Remembering his invaluable contributions to India’s space program and education sector, Modi recalled Dr. Kasturirangan’s vision of innovation, his role in the formulation of the New Education Policy, and his relentless spirit that inspired generations of scientists and students. His legacy, Modi said, will continue to guide the nation.

Reflecting on India’s remarkable achievements in space, Modi celebrated the 50th anniversary of the launch of the Aryabhatta satellite, recounting the humble beginnings of Indian scientists who, with limited resources but limitless passion, laid the foundations for what is now a globally respected space program. From the Mars Orbiter Mission to Chandrayaan-3’s historic success, and upcoming missions like Gaganyaan and SpaDeX, he shared his pride in India’s advancements and the opening up of the space sector to private players, encouraging young entrepreneurs to dream big.

Turning attention to India’s spirit of humanity, Modi spoke about ‘Operation Brahma’ — India’s swift and heartfelt response to the devastating earthquake in Myanmar. Indian forces provided critical medical aid, rescue operations, and supplies, touching countless lives, including the emotional rescue of a 70-year-old woman trapped under debris for 18 hours. He praised the courage and dedication of the rescue teams, underlining India’s commitment to the principle of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ — the world is one family.

He also lauded the selfless efforts of Indians living in Ethiopia, who have been supporting children suffering from heart diseases by arranging their treatment in India. Modi mentioned how India’s improving medical infrastructure is now helping citizens beyond its borders, with recent vaccine and medicine supplies sent to Afghanistan and Nepal as part of India’s ongoing commitment to global health and humanitarian aid.

The Prime Minister urged citizens to be proactive about disaster preparedness, introducing the ‘Sachet’ app developed by NDMA, which alerts users about potential natural disasters in regional languages, ensuring timely information and safety for all.

Speaking about India’s growing fascination with science, Modi highlighted how even places once known for unrest, like Dantewada in Chhattisgarh, are now becoming centers of learning and innovation. Children there are enthusiastically exploring robotics, 3D printing, and technology, symbolizing a transformation that inspires hope for a bright future.

In a moving appeal to protect the environment, Modi spoke about the success of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, where over 140 crore trees were planted across India in the past year to honor mothers and Mother Earth. He cited Ahmedabad’s inspiring transformation through tree plantations and revival of water bodies, making it a model city in the fight against global warming. He urged every citizen to continue this green movement, emphasizing how small actions today would secure a better tomorrow.

Modi also celebrated stories of agricultural innovation that challenge conventional wisdom. He shared inspiring tales like that of Shri Shail Teli from Karnataka, who successfully grew apples in the hot plains, and the breakthroughs in saffron cultivation in Kinnaur and Wayanad. He highlighted the expansion of litchi farming to Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan, demonstrating how determination and persistence can turn the impossible into reality.

Finally, the Prime Minister touched on the historical significance of April and May, recalling the Champaran Satyagraha led by Mahatma Gandhi in 1917. He narrated how the plight of farmers suffering under British oppression led to a peaceful but powerful movement that shook the colonial establishment and laid a foundation for India’s freedom struggle. He urged the youth to learn from history and read Dr. Rajendra Prasad’s account of the Champaran movement, reminding everyone of the sacrifices that paved the way for an independent India.

As he concluded, the Prime Minister emphasized that India’s strength lies in the collective resolve, innovation, and compassion of its people, and called upon every citizen to contribute to building a stronger, greener, and more humane future.
