AAP to Contest All 243 Bihar Assembly Seats in 2025

RR Team, June 18, 2025June 19, 2025

Sanjay Singh Rules Out Alliances

In a significant political move ahead of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh declared that AAP will independently contest all 243 assembly seats. Speaking in Patna during a protest at Gardanibagh, Singh categorically ruled out forming alliances — including with Prashant Kishor’s newly floated Jan Suraaj Party (JSP).“There is no thermometer to gauge who is hurting whose prospects. Every party fights, people vote,” Singh said, signaling a bold strategy for AAP’s entry into Bihar’s complex political landscape.

Yatra Phases and Ground Presence

AAP has reportedly completed three phases of its grassroots-level yatra across Bihar and is planning a fourth to strengthen its presence in all constituencies. The move mirrors AAP’s past campaigns in Delhi and Punjab, where similar outreach proved successful.

Singh emphasized that the state unit had coordinated with AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal before the decision. “We are serious about offering a third alternative to voters in Bihar,” he added.

Allegations Against BJP in Delhi

The protest that formed the backdrop of Singh’s announcement was aimed at what AAP termed as “BJP’s anti-Poorvanchali actions” in Delhi. Singh alleged that slums and shops of migrants from Bihar and eastern UP were being demolished despite past assurances.

“This is pure gaddari (betrayal). Before elections, BJP leaders went to these areas with promises. Now they are bulldozing them,” he claimed.

Impact on Mahagathbandhan

While AAP has ruled out alliances, political observers suggest this decision could fragment the anti-BJP vote in Bihar. AAP’s entry may pose challenges to the existing Mahagathbandhan comprising RJD, Congress, and Left parties. However, Singh dismissed speculation and reiterated AAP’s intent to “let the people decide.”

What Lies Ahead?

With months to go before elections, AAP’s ground-level activities, candidate selection, and campaign strategy will determine its actual impact. While it faces stiff competition, its governance pitch and Delhi model may appeal to urban voters and youth across Bihar’s districts.
