Adalat Brings Relief: 1,087 Pension Grievances Settled

RR Team, January 23, 2026January 24, 2026
New Delhi, 23 January 2026: In a significant move to ensure timely justice and financial security for pensioners, the 15th Pension Adalat successfully addressed 1,087 long-pending grievances from super senior and family pensioners. Held at the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) on 24 December 2025 under the chairpersonship of Ms. Rachana Shah, Secretary DoPT, DARPG & DOPPW, the Adalat showcased a robust mechanism for redressing pension-related issues efficiently.

On-the-Spot Resolutions and Follow-Up

Out of 1,087 grievances related to 30 Departments including Defence, Home Affairs, Finance, Posts, Housing & Urban Affairs, and Civil Aviation, 815 cases were resolved on the spot. The follow-up meeting held on 16 January 2026 further ensured resolution of pending cases, highlighting the initiative’s commitment to fast-track justice and uphold the dignity of pensioners.

Heartwarming Success Stories

Several pensioners received long-overdue payments following the Pension Adalat mechanism:

Shri Pawan Kumar Gupta

A resident of Tema Village, Basti, Uttar Pradesh, Shri Gupta’s grievance regarding non-payment of his NPS corpus after medical discharge on 20 March 2023 had been pending for over 100 days. During the Adalat and follow-up, he received Rs. 10.35 lakh in arrears, resolving his hardship promptly.

Shri Rasika Diggi

Shri Diggi from West Singhbhum, Jharkhand, had his pension discontinued since November 2007 due to non-submission of Life Certificate. After 200 days of pending grievance, the Adalat facilitated settlement, and he received Rs. 41 lakh, restoring his long-awaited pension payments.

Ms. Pramila Thapa

Ms. Thapa, an unmarried disabled daughter of the late Shri Sanjay Gurang, had not received family pension since November 2018. Following her grievance being addressed in the Adalat, arrears of Rs. 12.78 lakh were paid, and her monthly pension commenced immediately, alleviating financial stress.

Shri Nasim Akhter

Shri Nasim Akhter of Jammu & Kashmir had pending LTA payments from November 2008 to July 2020. The Pension Adalat intervention led to a disbursement of Rs. 21,14,991, closing a long-standing grievance that had remained unresolved for over 12 years.

Commitment to Pensioners’ Welfare

The Pension Adalat mechanism underlines the Government’s dedication to addressing pensioners’ grievances efficiently, ensuring financial stability and reinforcing the dignity of retired personnel. By combining on-the-spot resolution with systematic follow-up, the initiative ensures that long-pending cases are addressed without unnecessary delay.

With such structured grievance redressal frameworks, the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions continues to strengthen transparency, accountability, and trust among pensioners nationwide.
