A New Milestone in Healthcare Innovation
Union Health Minister Shri J.P. Nadda virtually inaugurated the first edition of the “Best Practices” Conclave at AIIMS Nagpur on June 13, 2025. The event marked a critical step in sharing innovative ideas and strategies among India’s leading public health institutions.
Organized by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the two-day conclave brought together senior leadership and administrators from AIIMS institutions across India, alongside representatives from the Ministry of Defence, PMSSY, and other key stakeholders.
Uniting AIIMS to Share and Grow
In his keynote, Shri Nadda emphasized that every AIIMS campus plays a pivotal role in shaping equitable, evidence-based, and affordable healthcare. He commended AIIMS Nagpur for spearheading this initiative and providing a platform for cross-learning.
“Each AIIMS represents a unique center of innovation. Sharing their rich experiences in governance, research, and patient care will uplift the entire system,” he said.
Three Pillars of the Conclave
The conclave focused on three strategic areas:

Teaching-Learning & Research
AIIMS campuses have embraced Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME), modern simulation labs, and digital learning platforms. These innovations, including structured mentorships, ensure students are ready for future challenges. -
Hospital Services
Institutions are enhancing patient care with transparent administrative systems, digital registration, Jan Aushadhi Kendras, and dedicated helpdesks. -
Governance & Patient Convenience
Several AIIMS have adopted e-governance tools and ethical frameworks that balance efficiency and empathy—key for public health trust.
Research That Reflects Regional Realities
Newer AIIMS institutions are conducting regionally relevant research, running ethical clinical trials, and contributing to translational research. According to Shri Nadda, these efforts are essential in solving complex public health issues with real-world solutions.
This conclave also featured presentations by AIIMS Deoghar, AIIMS Bhopal, AIIMS Guwahati, and others on their locally impactful innovations. These included telemedicine modules, AI-driven diagnostics, and community outreach programs.
Building a Future-Ready Medical Ecosystem
Union Health Secretary Ms. Punya Salila Srivastava highlighted the need for visionary leadership across institutions. She urged all stakeholders to learn from each other and scale successful models nationally.
Executive Director of AIIMS Nagpur, Dr. Prashant P. Joshi, reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to fostering collaboration across AIIMS campuses to boost quality and efficiency.
