All-Party Meet Sets Tone for Monsoon Session 2025

RR Team, July 21, 2025July 20, 2025

Leaders from across India’s political spectrum gathered in New Delhi to set the agenda for the Monsoon Session of Parliament 2025. A total of 54 leaders from 40 political parties attended the crucial meeting at the Parliament House Complex.

Key Leaders Lay the Groundwork

Joining them were Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, Union MoS for Law & Justice, and Dr. L. Murugan, MoS for Parliamentary Affairs and I&B. Their collective aim was to prepare for an effective and cooperative Monsoon Session.

Session Overview and Schedule

The Monsoon Session 2025 will begin on Monday, July 21 and conclude on Thursday, August 21. It will feature 21 sittings across 32 days. Both Houses will take a break from August 12 to August 17 to accommodate Independence Day celebrations.

Shri Rijiju noted that the government has prepared a robust legislative agenda and is ready to discuss other important issues raised by political parties, as per the rules of both Houses.

Legislative Highlights of Monsoon Session 2025

As per the PIB release, 17 key legislative and financial items are on the agenda. These include reforms in shipping, taxation, sports governance, and preservation of geoheritage sites.

Parliament is likely to take up the following important bills:

  • The Indian Ports Bill, 2025
  • The Income-tax Bill, 2025
  • The Geoheritage Sites and Geo-relics (Preservation and Maintenance) Bill, 2025
  • The National Sports Governance Bill, 2025
  • The National Anti-Doping Amendment Bill, 2025
  • The Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2025

Other legislation includes amendments related to Manipur’s Goods and Services Tax, the Carriage of Goods by Sea, and the Merchant Shipping Bill.

Focus on Manipur Situation

A critical part of the session will include a discussion on President’s Rule in Manipur. A resolution seeking its extension will be placed before the House. The situation in Manipur remains tense, and this debate is expected to draw significant attention from all parties.

Financial Agenda: Demands for Grants

The session will also witness a discussion and voting on Demands for Grants (Manipur) for 2025-26. The related Appropriation Bill will be introduced and passed during the sitting.

Commitment to Constructive Dialogue

Leaders from various parties raised their concerns and assured full cooperation in ensuring a productive session.

He thanked all attendees for their contributions and reaffirmed the government’s readiness to address important national issues with consensus and mutual respect.

What This Means for Citizens

This Monsoon Session is more than just legislative paperwork. It’s a platform for shaping India’s economic, social, and regional policies. From tax reforms to tribal representation, and from environmental conservation to sports integrity, the scope of discussion is wide and impactful.

In a democracy as vibrant as India’s, such sessions offer citizens a window into how debates transform into decisions. The public, stakeholders, and media will be closely watching how this session unfolds.

Looking Ahead

With bipartisan dialogue and a full schedule of bills, the Monsoon Session 2025 is expected to be both intense and transformative. As India moves ahead with development and reforms, Parliament remains the central pillar of that journey.

All eyes will be on the House as critical bills and national issues come up for discussion over the next few weeks.
