Amit Shah Chairs Security Review Meeting on J&K Peace

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, chaired a comprehensive security review meeting on Jammu and Kashmir in New Delhi on 8th January 2026. The meeting was attended by Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary, Director (IB), Chief Secretary & Director General Police of Jammu & Kashmir, Heads of CAPFs, and other senior officials.

Commitment to Peace and Counter-Terror Operations

Shri Amit Shah reiterated the Government of India’s commitment, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, to establish lasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir while eliminating terrorism completely. The Home Minister emphasized the zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and stated that sustained, coordinated efforts have significantly crippled the terror ecosystem in the region.

He highlighted that Counter Terror (CT) Operations targeting terrorist infrastructure and terror financing should continue in a mission-mode, ensuring that the gains achieved post-abrogation of Article 370 are maintained.

Security Agencies Commended

The Union Home Minister appreciated the tireless efforts of security agencies for strengthening the security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir. He called upon all forces to remain alert, maintain synergy, and continue operations to achieve the objective of a terror-free Jammu & Kashmir.

Shri Shah assured that the government will provide all necessary resources to support security forces in their mission to safeguard citizens and ensure sustained peace in the region.

Strategic Outlook

The meeting underlined the importance of vigilance, coordination, and intelligence-driven operations to prevent any resurgence of terrorism. Union Home Minister directed the agencies to maintain continuous engagement with local communities and strengthen counter-terror infrastructure, ensuring a safe and secure environment across Jammu & Kashmir.
