Amit Shah Greets Bengal, Odisha, Assam on Dol

RR Team, March 3, 2026March 3, 2026
Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Tuesday extended warm greetings to the people of West Bengal, Odisha, and Assam on the auspicious occasion of Dol Jatra and Dola Purnima. He conveyed his wishes through a series of posts on social media, highlighting the cultural and spiritual significance of the festival.
Dol Jatra and Dola Purnima mark a vibrant celebration of devotion, colors, and the divine union with Bhagwan Krishna. The festival holds special importance in eastern India, where communities observe it with traditional rituals, music, and festive gatherings.

Greetings to West Bengal

In his message to the people of West Bengal, Shah wished happiness and prosperity to all families celebrating Dol Jatra. He emphasized that the grandeur of the festival should strengthen the people’s connection with their cultural roots and rich heritage.

The Home Minister noted that such traditional festivals play a vital role in preserving social harmony and reinforcing the spiritual fabric of society. Dol Jatra in West Bengal is observed with colorful processions, devotional songs, and temple rituals dedicated to Lord Krishna.

Warm Wishes for Odisha

Extending greetings to Odisha on Dola Purnima, Shah described the festival as a joyful union with Bhagwan Krishna. He expressed hope that the sacred occasion would bring blessings of joy and good fortune to every household.

Dola Purnima is celebrated across Odisha with devotional fervor. Idols of Lord Krishna are taken in decorated palanquins to temples and community spaces, where devotees offer prayers and participate in traditional festivities.

Message to Assam

Shah also conveyed heartfelt greetings to the people of Assam on Dol Jatra. He wished that the festival of devotion and colors fills everyone’s life with good health, happiness, and prosperity.

In Assam, Dol Utsav is marked by devotional songs, vibrant colors, and community gatherings that bring together people from diverse backgrounds. The festival strengthens bonds within society while celebrating faith and unity.

Festival of Faith and Cultural Heritage

Dol Jatra and Dola Purnima are observed on the full moon day of the Phalguna month and coincide with Holi celebrations in several parts of India. While Holi is widely known as the festival of colors, Dol Jatra emphasizes devotion to Lord Krishna and Radha.

Across West Bengal, Odisha, and Assam, temples and community centers witness devotional singing, ritual offerings, and colorful celebrations. The festivals not only carry spiritual significance but also reinforce cultural continuity across generations.

Public leaders and community organizations across the region also extended greetings, urging citizens to celebrate responsibly while upholding traditions.

As eastern India celebrates this vibrant festival, the messages from national leaders underline the importance of faith, unity, and cultural pride in strengthening the nation’s social fabric.
