Gandhinagar, May 17 — Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of several developmental projects worth ₹708 crore in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. At the event, he also participated in the benefit distribution program organized by the Department of Posts and addressed the gathering with heartfelt words that blended development, national pride, and emotional remembrance.
Speaking to the people of Gujarat, Shri Shah emphasized that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has not only made great strides in development across all sectors but has also become significantly stronger in terms of national security. He recalled the troubling days before 2014, when frequent terrorist attacks caused immense loss of life and left citizens gripped with fear. The change since then, he said, has been both substantial and deeply reassuring.
Reflecting on India’s robust response to terrorism, the Home Minister pointed to the country’s decisive actions following the Uri, Pulwama, and most recently, the Pahalgam attacks. In response to the Pahalgam tragedy — where innocent civilians and tourists were brutally targeted — India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’, a mission that, according to Shri Shah, struck at the very heart of terrorist camps deep within Pakistani territory.
With evident emotion, Shri Shah praised the courage and professionalism of India’s armed forces. He said that the brave soldiers carried out targeted operations that dismantled the headquarters of groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba, neutralizing nine major terrorist training camps located nearly 100 km inside Pakistan. “This is not just military action — this is justice for the blood of our innocent citizens,” he said.
He also highlighted how the improved air defense systems, developed under the Modi government, successfully thwarted all enemy missiles and drones during the escalation, ensuring that not a single one landed on Indian soil. The defense response, he remarked, sent a clear message to adversaries: India will respond with resolve, restraint, and precision.
A poignant moment in the address came when Shri Shah explained the significance behind naming the operation ‘Sindoor’. Chosen by Prime Minister Modi himself, the name honors Indian women and traditions, symbolizing the cultural values that terrorism tries to destroy — and which India remains committed to protect. “By naming this mission after ‘sindoor’, we remind the world of what we stand for — dignity, family, sacrifice, and resilience,” he said.
He concluded by expressing gratitude and admiration for the Indian Armed Forces, saying that their valor and the clarity of purpose shown by the political leadership have reshaped how the world views India’s defense capabilities. The courage of India’s soldiers and the unwavering spirit of the nation, he said, will be remembered every time ‘Operation Sindoor’ is mentioned in the annals of military history.
In a time when many are still mourning the loss caused by terrorism, the address offered not just an account of retaliation, but also a tribute to unity, strength, and the silent courage of every Indian family that bears the cost of national security.
