Gita Press: Custodian of Indian Culture
Shri Amit Shah highlighted the unparalleled role of Gita Press in preserving and propagating Sanatan consciousness. He said that for over a century, revered Hanuman Prasad Poddar Ji, through Gita Press, inspired crores of people towards spirituality and devotion, dedicating his life to spreading knowledge and faith without seeking personal gain. The Home Minister praised Gita Press for its selfless service, stating that it operates not for profit but for nurturing generations and promoting Indian cultural values.
‘Kalyan’: A Century of Spiritual Guidance
Shri Shah remarked that ‘Kalyan’ magazine has consistently kept the lamp of Indian culture burning, guiding readers through crises with spiritual knowledge. From its early issues, including the 1932 edition on Lord Shri Krishna and the 1936 Yoga issue, to the post-independence Women issue and the 1950 Hindu Culture issue, ‘Kalyan’ has provided ideological direction rooted in Indian values. Today, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, these cultural values continue to inform national policy.
Preserving Knowledge and Spiritual Values
The Union Home Minister emphasized that Gita Press has always prioritized education, wisdom, and truth over commercial interests. He recalled Mahatma Gandhi’s guidance that ‘Kalyan’ should remain ad-free to maintain its spiritual integrity. Over 100 years, Gita Press has published a vast array of literature, including commentaries on the Upanishads by Adi Shankaracharya, fostering a spiritual awakening and strengthening faith in Sanatan Dharma.
Celebrating India’s Cultural Revival
Shri Shah also reflected on India’s cultural resurgence, noting key achievements during Prime Minister Modi’s tenure, including the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, restoration of Kedarnath and Badrinath shrines, and repatriation of over 642 idols taken abroad. He said that initiatives like Gita Press and magazines such as ‘Kalyan’ have ensured the protection and nurturing of India’s spiritual and cultural heritage through centuries of challenges.
Conclusion
The centenary edition of ‘Kalyan’ not only commemorates a milestone but also reinforces the enduring relevance of Sanatan Dharma and Indian culture in modern India. Through the tireless efforts of Gita Press and spiritual leaders, generations of Indians continue to draw inspiration from this rich cultural heritage.
