Amit Shah Lays Foundation for Assam Police 10th Battalion HQ

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, today laid the foundation stone of the headquarters of the 10th Battalion of the Assam Police in Kamrup, Assam. The event was attended by Assam Governor Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Home Secretary, and several dignitaries.

Assam’s Security and Development Focus

Shri Amit Shah highlighted the state’s significant progress under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s leadership. He emphasized that Assam is on track to become the industrial hub of eastern and North-Eastern India within the next five years. The new headquarters, spread across 124 bighas, will feature residential facilities, barracks for 750 male and 450 female officers, a hospital, training center, firing range, surveillance center, and a sports complex for the Assam Police.

Eradicating Infiltrators and Strengthening Law Enforcement

The Union Home Minister criticized the previous government for allowing infiltrators to occupy 174 bighas of land, posing threats to Assam and the nation. He commended Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma for freeing nearly 1.45 lakh bighas of land and providing over 1.4 lakh government jobs without corruption. Shri Shah asserted that his party’s government will work to identify and deport all infiltrators within the next five years, ensuring Assam’s security and demographic stability.

Preserving Culture and Recognizing Assam’s Heroes

Shri Shah also emphasized cultural preservation, noting that the opposition had damaged Assam’s community (jati), land (mati), and cultural foundation (bheti). He praised the government for promoting Lachit Borphukan’s legacy, honoring Dr. Bhupen Hazarika and Gopinath Ji with the Bharat Ratna, and reinforcing Assamese culture. He credited Prime Minister Modi’s leadership for prioritizing the North-East, with over 80 visits in 11 years.

Economic Initiatives and Future Prospects

The Union Home Minister highlighted development efforts, including self-help group empowerment, land rights for 2.5 lakh landless indigenous people, schemes for tea garden workers, and the upcoming ₹27,000 crore semiconductor plant. He also mentioned educational reforms and employment generation initiatives, emphasizing Assam’s transformation in infrastructure and security.

Shri Amit Shah concluded by reiterating that to achieve an Assam free from insurgency, poverty, and unemployment  and to secure development and flood resilience  his party’s government should continue in power.
