Amit Shah Reviews J&K Security, Lauds Forces

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Monday reviewed the overall security scenario of Jammu and Kashmir in a high-level meeting held in Jammu. The review meeting, attended by Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary, Director of Intelligence Bureau, Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, and senior officials of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), focused on counter-terrorism measures, public safety, and disaster management in the Union Territory.
Shah commended the Jammu & Kashmir administration and security forces for successfully and peacefully conducting the Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2025. He credited the coordinated efforts of civil authorities and security agencies for ensuring the safety of lakhs of pilgrims despite challenging circumstances.

Zero Tolerance Against Terrorism

Reaffirming the Centre’s commitment to peace and stability in the region, Shah reiterated the government’s policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He instructed all security forces to maintain strict vigilance, share intelligence seamlessly, and conduct coordinated operations to eliminate the remnants of terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir.

The Home Minister underlined that peace in the Union Territory is critical not just for the residents but also for strengthening tourism, economic growth, and the cultural identity of the region.

Role of Security Forces in Disaster Relief

Shah also praised the efforts of security forces, CAPFs, and the administration during the recent flash floods in parts of Jammu and Kashmir. Their swift action in relief and rescue operations, he said, saved many lives and minimized the damage caused by the natural calamity.

Assuring continued Central assistance, Shah emphasized that CAPFs would remain fully available to support the Union Territory in managing both security challenges and natural disasters. He highlighted the importance of strengthening disaster response mechanisms alongside counter-terrorism measures.

Commitment to Peace and Development

The Home Minister’s visit underscores the Union Government’s two-fold strategy for Jammu and Kashmir—firm action against terrorism and sustained support for development and disaster management. By appreciating both the peaceful conduct of the Amarnath Yatra and the timely rescue efforts during floods, Shah sought to highlight the collective role of security forces, administration, and citizens in maintaining stability.

Officials present in the meeting assured the Home Minister of their full commitment to implementing these directives. The administration reiterated its focus on improving security coordination, strengthening infrastructure, and promoting communal harmony across the region.

With this review meeting, the Centre has once again signaled its resolve to ensure lasting peace, safety, and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir.
