Amit Shah to Gift NFSU Campus to Chhattisgarh

Why This Visit Matters
The National Forensic Science University is a critical step under India’s revamped criminal justice system enabled by the new laws — BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita), BNSS (Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita), and BSA (Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam). With Chhattisgarh being a sensitive region for law and order, forensic support becomes crucial.
Deputy CM Vijay Sharma stated that the state government has allocated 40 acres in Naya Raipur for the new NFSU campus. This aligns with the Centre’s vision of a secure, evidence-driven, and tech-enabled justice system.
National Push for Forensic Education
Amit Shah emphasized the need for India’s law enforcement to be “two steps ahead of criminals.” During the inauguration of the Central Forensic Science Lab (CFSL) in Kolkata earlier this month, he noted:
“A transparent and evidence-based criminal justice system is the need of the hour.”
Since 2020, eight NFSU campuses have been established and another eight are under development. These institutes are envisioned to train young forensic professionals who will support India’s law and order frameworks nationwide.
Honoring a Martyr: Akash Rao Giripunje
As part of the visit, Amit Shah will meet the family of ASP Akash Rao Giripunje, who lost his life in an IED blast in Sukma’s Konta area. This gesture underscores the government’s acknowledgment of sacrifices made by law enforcement personnel battling extremism.
Future Vision
With the new NFSU campus and expanded state forensic lab, Chhattisgarh is poised to become a regional hub for forensic studies and criminal investigations. The Centre has also promoted forensic vans across every district, equipping police forces with quick-response tools to gather scientific evidence.
