RR Team, June 10, 2025June 9, 2025

Army Training Command Leads India’s Tech-Driven Defence Shift

In a significant visit to one of the Indian Army’s strategic institutions, Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Sanjay Seth lauded the Army Training Command (ARTRAC) in Shimla for shaping the future of India’s defence through modern technology and robust training systems.

Held on June 9, 2025, the visit underlined the growing importance of technology, strategic leadership, and indigenous innovation in India’s defence ecosystem.

ARTRAC: The Backbone of Indian Army’s Institutional Training

General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Lt Gen Devendra Sharma briefed the minister on ARTRAC’s critical contributions. These include:

  • Oversight of 34 premier military training establishments across India.

  • Development of doctrines and operational concepts to meet evolving challenges.

  • Cultivating future military leadership with strategic foresight.

The minister praised these structured and visionary efforts as crucial to India’s preparedness in an unpredictable global environment.

Empowering a Future-Ready Military

Shri Sanjay Seth appreciated ARTRAC’s commitment to:

  • Online learning and digital simulations.

  • Adopting niche military technologies, like AI-based wargaming and unmanned systems.

  • Promoting Aatmanirbhar Bharat in defence through innovation-driven training modules.

The efforts reflect India’s push under the Digital India Mission, aimed at reducing dependency on foreign military systems.

Operation Sindoor: A Testament to Joint Military Excellence

During his interaction with officers, Shri Seth lauded the seamless coordination between the Army, Navy, and Air Force during Operation Sindoor, a recent successful anti-terror initiative.

He called it a “powerful symbol” of India’s resolve to counter terrorism with strength and strategic precision. The operation also highlighted the importance of joint commands and inter-service synergy in India’s modern warfare doctrine.

Youth & Veteran Welfare: A Holistic Vision

The minister also emphasized the government’s focus on expanding NCC (National Cadet Corps) and Sainik Schools, aimed at nurturing patriotism and leadership among youth.

He reaffirmed the Centre’s continued commitment to welfare schemes for ex-servicemen, including health, pensions, and skill reintegration programs.

A Tribute to Nature: Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam

Adding a symbolic gesture to his visit, Shri Seth planted a sapling at the Army Heritage Museum complex in Shimla as part of the nationwide “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign. This initiative aligns with the government’s focus on sustainable development alongside national security.

Conclusion: Building a Resilient & Modern Army

The Raksha Rajya Mantri’s visit showcased India’s determined steps toward creating a technologically advanced, self-reliant, and battle-ready defence force.

ARTRAC, with its focus on strategic training and tech integration, continues to play a vital role in turning this vision into a ground reality.

As India progresses towards its defence goals under the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, institutions like ARTRAC remain central to ensuring that the nation’s protectors are not just brave—but also the best prepared.
