Ashwini Vaishnaw Launches ₹17.3 Cr Railway Projects in Bihar

Karpoorigram, Bihar – In a significant step towards modernizing railway infrastructure in Bihar, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw laid the foundation stone for several key development projects at Karpoorigram station on July 7, 2025.

Modern Travel Experience: A Top Priority

During the visit, Shri Vaishnaw inspected Digha Bridge Halt and reviewed passenger facilities. He emphasized the need for cleanliness, safety, and comfort. Directing officials, he stated that “ensuring a modern and safe travel experience is our top priority.”

From lighting and drinking water to platform safety and digital services, every detail was evaluated to improve the commuter experience.

Revamp of Karpoorigram Station

The Minister inaugurated station redevelopment work worth ₹3.30 crore. The upgrades include:

  • Modernized station building
  • Digital information systems
  • New waiting rooms and toilets
  • Drinking water and ramp access for differently-abled

This initiative reflects Indian Railways’ goal to transform regional stations into modern transport hubs.

New Subway for Smooth Traffic Flow

One of the highlights was the Bhoomi Pujan of a ₹14 crore railway subway between Karpoorigram and Khudiram Bose Pusa stations. It will be built at Level Crossing Gate No. 59 ‘C’.

This underground passage will significantly reduce local traffic congestion and allow seamless movement of trains, enhancing safety for pedestrians and vehicles alike.

Railway Budget for Bihar Increases 10-Fold

Speaking at the event, Vaishnaw highlighted how Bihar’s railway budget has surged from ₹1,000 crore to ₹10,000 crore under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“This exponential increase showcases our commitment to inclusive development. Bihar will play a vital role in our journey toward a Developed India,” he remarked.

35,000 km of New Railway Lines in 11 Years

Vaishnaw shared key milestones in Indian Railways’ growth. In the past 11 years, over 35,000 kilometers of new railway lines have been built. This is multiple times more than previous governments managed.

These developments are not just about trains—they are about jobs, mobility, and economic opportunities for citizens.

People-Centric Governance

Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Ramnath Thakur, attended the event as the Guest of Honour. Local leaders, senior railway officials, and hundreds of residents were also present.

The event stood as a shining example of Janbhagidari (public participation) in nation-building. Citizens expressed appreciation for the government’s focus on grassroots infrastructure.

Bihar on Track to Become a Rail Powerhouse

From high-speed corridors to rural station upgrades, the Railways Ministry is implementing a multi-layered strategy. Bihar is now at the center of this transformation.

With better stations, faster trains, and advanced safety measures, Indian Railways is redefining travel for millions of people.

Conclusion: Transforming Bihar Through Railways

With a ₹17.3 crore investment, Ashwini Vaishnaw’s visit marks a new era of rail connectivity in Bihar. Projects like the Karpoorigram station upgrade and the new subway will bring long-term benefits.

This is more than just infrastructure—it is a promise of equal growth, safer journeys, and modern India.
