The Bengaluru Police are intensifying their search for Atul Subhash’s estranged wife, Nikita Singhania, and her family members after the 34-year-old man died by suicide earlier this week. Atul, a resident of Munnekollal, was found dead in his apartment on Monday. His brother, Bikas Kumar, filed a complaint accusing Nikita, her mother Nisha, her brother Anurag, and her uncle Sushil Singhania of abetting his suicide. The complaint alleges that the family had been harassing Atul, demanding Rs 3 crore to drop legal cases and Rs 30 lakh for visitation rights to see their son.
The Marathahalli police have registered a case of abetment to suicide and have sent a team to Uttar Pradesh to track down the accused. Reports indicate that Nisha and Anurag fled their home in Jaunpur on Wednesday, and video footage has surfaced showing them leaving late at night. Local authorities in Jaunpur have not received any official communication from Bengaluru Police about the case.
Nikita’s lawyer, Vijay Mishra, questioned the circumstances surrounding Atul’s death, noting that Nikita had previously filed a maintenance case against him. He called for a thorough investigation to determine the truth. Meanwhile, Sushil Singhania, one of the accused, denied any involvement, claiming that the divorce proceedings between Nikita and Atul had been ongoing for three years, and the family was not guilty of the accusations.
The investigation continues, with police monitoring the situation in Jaunpur. Nikita and Atul married in April 2019, and in 2022, she had filed an FIR accusing Atul and his family of dowry harassment.
