Ayodhya Bans Non-Veg Food Delivery Within 15 Km of Ram Temple

Ayodhya administration has imposed strict restrictions on food deliveries near the Ram Temple, banning all non-vegetarian items within a 15-kilometre radius. The move follows complaints regarding delivery of non-veg food in the town’s sacred “Paanch Kosi Parikrama” area.
Hotels, homestays, and online food delivery companies have been officially warned about the new restrictions. Ayodhya Assistant Food Commissioner Manik Chandra Singh stated, “Despite previous bans, non-vegetarian food continued to be delivered to tourists through online platforms. We are now enforcing stricter compliance measures.”

The administration will conduct continuous monitoring to ensure adherence to the ban. All hotels and vendors have been instructed to comply or face penalties. Over two dozen licensed liquor shops still operate along the Ram Path, even though the municipal corporation passed a motion last May to prohibit the sale of liquor and meat along the 14-kilometre stretch.

An official from the Ayodhya Municipal Corporation explained that while efforts have been made to remove meat shops in Faizabad city and Ram Path, permission from the district administration is required to shut down liquor shops.

The ban comes amid efforts to preserve the sanctity of the temple area and regulate tourism activities. The administration emphasizes that the prohibition applies to all food delivery platforms, hotels, and homestays in the defined perimeter.

Local authorities have assured residents and tourists that continuous surveillance will enforce the order, ensuring compliance and maintaining the religious and cultural decorum of the area.
