Ayush Launches ASIC to Boost Ayurveda Startups

RR Team, February 27, 2026February 28, 2026
New Delhi/Bengaluru: In a significant push to strengthen India’s traditional medicine ecosystem, the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) under the Ministry of Ayush has invited applications from startups for incubation at the newly established Ayurvedic Sciences Incubation Centre (ASIC) at the Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI), Bengaluru.
The national Call for Expression of Interest (EoI), announced on February 27, 2026, is part of the Ministry’s flagship initiative “Startup Incubation through Ayush Institutions.” The programme aims to nurture innovative entrepreneurial ventures in Ayurveda through structured mentorship, funding facilitation and regulatory guidance.

Empowering Young Innovators

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, said the new incubation centre reflects the government’s commitment to promoting innovation in traditional medicine. He emphasised that Ayurveda holds immense potential when classical knowledge is supported by modern research and enterprise.

According to the Minister, the ASIC at CARI will empower young innovators to transform ancient Ayurvedic wisdom into contemporary healthcare solutions. He noted that such initiatives will strengthen India’s position as a global hub for integrative healthcare.

Building a Robust Ayush Startup Ecosystem

Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, described ASIC as a strategic step toward creating a strong startup ecosystem within the Ayush sector. He highlighted that startups will receive scientific mentorship, financial guidance and regulatory support to ensure their products meet national and international quality standards.

The initiative aims to accelerate research-based product development, commercialisation of new Ayurvedic solutions and meaningful industry–academia collaboration. Officials believe that evidence-backed innovation is key to enhancing global trust in traditional Indian medicine.

CARI Bengaluru as Innovation Hub

Prof. Rabinarayan Acharya, Director General of CCRAS, underlined CARI Bengaluru’s expertise in clinical research, drug standardisation and medicinal plant studies. He stated that the incubation centre will serve as a launchpad for transformative ideas in Ayurveda.

Dr. Sulochana Bhat, Head of CARI Bengaluru, said the institute’s NABH- and NABL-accredited facilities, along with its IS/ISO 9001:2015 certification, provide a strong foundation for mentoring startups. CARI is also recognised as a Centre of Excellence in Madhumeha (Diabetes) and functions as a Peripheral Pharmacovigilance Centre.

With its established research ecosystem, CARI is expected to provide technical validation, laboratory support and collaborative opportunities for incubated startups.

Application Process and Deadline

Interested entrepreneurs can apply online through a structured three-step process. Applicants must first register on the official ASIC portal using basic details and verify their email ID. They are then required to complete their profile with information about their team, product concept and development stage.

The final step involves submitting the incubation application form detailing the problem statement, proposed solution and required documents. Applicants may save drafts before final submission.

Driving Preventive and Sustainable Healthcare

Through initiatives like ASIC, the Ministry of Ayush aims to integrate research excellence with entrepreneurial energy. By supporting startups that focus on preventive, promotive and sustainable healthcare solutions, the government seeks to ensure that Ayurveda evolves in line with modern scientific standards while retaining its traditional essence.

The launch of the Ayurvedic Sciences Incubation Centre marks another milestone in India’s effort to position evidence-based Ayurveda on the global stage.
