The Government of India’s Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) continues to make remarkable progress in creating a national digital health ecosystem, with more than 73.90 crore Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) IDs generated as of February 3, 2025. These 14-digit unique health identifiers, previously known as Health IDs, play a crucial role in ensuring seamless access to healthcare services and empowering citizens with their digital health records.
To enhance public awareness and encourage participation, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has implemented a comprehensive media and outreach strategy. This initiative aims to educate beneficiaries about their entitlements and rights under the scheme, ensuring that they can fully benefit from the digital health infrastructure. Various Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activities have been deployed to spread awareness, leveraging outdoor media, digital displays at railway ticket counters, announcements at major bus stations and passenger trains, as well as branding efforts at public locations.
Additionally, the campaign has received extensive national and regional press coverage, with op-eds and advertorials in print media highlighting the scheme’s advantages. Radio broadcasts, testimonials from beneficiaries aired on Doordarshan, mass SMS messaging, and traditional media engagement have further strengthened the outreach. By employing a multi-faceted approach, the government is working to ensure that every eligible citizen is informed about the benefits of ABDM and encouraged to enroll in the initiative.
Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, shared these updates in a written reply to the Lok Sabha, reaffirming the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare accessibility through digital innovation. The steady expansion of ABHA IDs reflects the success of the mission in integrating technology with healthcare, bringing India closer to a future where every individual has easy and secure access to their medical records.
