Bengaluru is set to experience a mix of relief and discomfort as heavy pre-monsoon showers are expected to bring down daytime temperatures while warmer nights loom ahead. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted significant rainfall for the city and surrounding regions, attributing the weather shift to the weakening of La Niña conditions.
Despite the cooling effect of the rain during the day, the nights are expected to feel warmer than usual. IMD scientist C.S. Patil explained that nighttime temperatures could rise by 1-2 degrees Celsius, making evenings and early mornings unusually warm. This shift is linked to the fading of La Niña, a climatic phenomenon that typically brings cooler weather. As it weakens, the region is likely to see hotter conditions taking hold in the coming weeks.
While the rain offers a much-needed reprieve, Bengaluru residents are advised to stay prepared for fluctuating temperatures. Experts recommend staying hydrated, dressing comfortably, and ensuring good ventilation at home to cope with the warmer nights. Though the weather patterns are shifting, the immediate forecast brings hope for cooler days ahead, even if the nights may feel a little less forgiving.
