Bengaluru Likely to Experience Heavy Rainfall and Thunderstorms from December 8, Forecasts IMD

Bengaluru is set to face heavy rainfall and thunderstorms starting December 8, as predicted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The city has already witnessed a drop in temperatures, accompanied by light to moderate showers, since the emergence of Cyclone Fengal, providing some relief from the usual warmth.

Currently, temperatures in Bengaluru range from 18°C to 24°C, resulting in noticeably cooler weather. The IMD forecast indicates that thunderstorms will continue in the city until December 10, with temperatures expected to stay between 19°C and 27°C during this period. This will maintain the relatively cool weather in the region. The forecast also predicts a mix of cloudy skies and intermittent rain, with varying levels of rainfall intensity throughout the week.

While Cyclone Fengal has weakened and is expected to lose its impact by December 6, its residual effects will still influence Bengaluru’s weather. Coastal regions of Karnataka have borne the brunt of the cyclone, with intense rainfall disrupting daily life. However, Bengaluru has experienced only moderate rainfall in comparison.

In contrast, schools in Dakshina Kannada had to close on December 3 due to severe rains, highlighting the need for vigilance in other affected areas.
