iPhone Delivery Scam:- A Bengaluru resident recently uncovered a delivery scam involving a fake Flipkart delivery agent. The scam attempt occurred when the resident, who had ordered an iPhone 15 with 256GB storage and selected the open-box delivery option, was approached by a man posing as a Flipkart delivery executive. The imposter, dressed in a white t-shirt, tried to hand over a sealed package, claiming it contained the ordered iPhone.
Open-box delivery is a service offered by online retailers like Flipkart and Amazon to ensure customers can inspect high-value items before accepting them, reducing the chances of receiving damaged or incorrect products. In this case, the fake delivery agent attempted to pressure the resident into accepting the sealed package without inspection. However, the resident began recording the interaction, prompting the scammer to flee the scene.
The resident later shared details of the incident online, explaining that his sister had purchased the iPhone during a Flipkart sale, opting for the open-box delivery. In his post, he mentioned that the imposter insisted on delivering the package without opening it, but quickly became nervous when he realized the conversation was being recorded. Shortly after the scammer left, another legitimate delivery agent arrived with a much smaller package and followed the correct open-box delivery procedure, allowing the resident to verify and accept the product.
