Bhupender Yadav Lays ‘Namo Van’ Foundation for Wildlife Week

RR Team, October 3, 2025October 2, 2025
Manesar, Haryana: In a significant step to promote wildlife conservation, Union Environment Minister Shri Bhupender Yadav, along with Haryana Cabinet Minister Shri Rao Narbir Singh, laid the foundation stone of ‘Namo Van’ at Manesar today. The initiative coincides with the celebrations of Wildlife Week 2025, observed from October 2 to 8, aimed at raising awareness about the protection of India’s rich biodiversity.
The event also featured a plantation drive under the campaign ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’, engaging citizens in the noble cause of environmental stewardship. Various sections of society, including school students, forest department staff, journalists, social workers, and other conservation stakeholders, actively participated and were felicitated for their contributions to forest and wildlife protection.

Wildlife Week 2025 and Conservation Awareness

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Yadav highlighted the importance of preserving India’s flora and fauna. In a post on the social media platform X, he stated that Wildlife Week serves as a platform to spread awareness nationwide about biodiversity conservation and ecological balance.

This year, the celebrations are aligned with the theme Sewa Parv, emphasizing service and responsibility towards nature. Activities during the week aim to inspire citizens to engage actively in protecting the environment and contributing to sustainable development.

Community Participation and Recognition

The foundation stone ceremony and plantation drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from local communities, students, and environmentalists. Individuals and organizations who have shown exemplary commitment to wildlife and forest conservation were honored for their efforts, reinforcing the message that collective action is essential to safeguard India’s natural heritage.

Experts stress that such initiatives not only enhance public awareness but also strengthen grassroots efforts in wildlife protection. By involving citizens in tree planting and conservation activities, the government seeks to cultivate a sense of environmental responsibility among younger generations.

Significance of ‘Namo Van’

The ‘Namo Van’ is envisioned as a landmark forest and conservation hub in Manesar, contributing to habitat preservation, ecological education, and biodiversity research. The project will provide a space for educational programs, wildlife awareness campaigns, and active community participation in sustainable forestry practices.

By establishing ‘Namo Van’, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change aims to strengthen India’s wildlife conservation framework while fostering a culture of environmental stewardship across Haryana and neighboring regions.

Looking Ahead

Wildlife Week 2025 is part of India’s broader efforts to promote ecological balance and environmental protection. Initiatives like ‘Namo Van’ and campaigns such as ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ are instrumental in connecting citizens with nature, inspiring action, and ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.
