Bihar Election 2025: NDA Leads, Tejashwi Tops CM Poll

RR Team, July 8, 2025July 7, 2025

Opinion Poll: NDA on Top in Bihar 2025 Race

With just months to go for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, a new opinion poll by InkInsight has set the political tone. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) appears to be leading the race with a comfortable margin.

The survey found that 48.9% of respondents prefer the NDA, while only 35.8% back the Mahagathbandhan – the Grand Alliance of RJD, Congress, and Left parties.

This trend matches the findings of InkInsight’s May survey, reinforcing the NDA’s strong voter base in Bihar.

Gender and Age Divide Favors NDA

Gender-wise, NDA enjoys overwhelming support among women. 54.7% of female voters back the alliance, compared to 43.6% of males. The Mahagathbandhan trails behind with 31.2% of female and 39.8% of male support.

Age-wise, senior citizens are the NDA’s strongest backers. Over 53% of those aged 60+ support NDA. The alliance also leads across other age groups—from youth aged 18–29 (47.3%) to those in the 40–49 range (51.9%).

Tejashwi Yadav Most Preferred as Chief Minister

Despite NDA’s edge, the battle for Bihar’s top post tells a different story. Tejashwi Yadav leads the CM preference poll with 38.3% votes.

Nitish Kumar, Bihar’s current CM, follows closely at 35.6%. Interestingly, Chirag Paswan (4.6%) and Prashant Kishor (2.3%) were mentioned, but trail far behind.

Only 1.7% of voters want Samrat Choudhary, the BJP’s Deputy CM, to lead. Yet, 12.3% seek a fresh BJP face altogether.

Top Voter Concerns: Unemployment and Inflation

When asked about their biggest issues, voters didn’t hesitate. Unemployment tops the list at 51.2%, followed by price rise (45.7%) and corruption (41%).

Basic needs like electricity, roads, and water (36.9%) and law and order (19.5%) were also listed as key concerns.

Caste Dynamics Paint a Clear Picture

The NDA maintains solid backing from most caste groups. Kurmis (85.1%) and Hindu upper castes (79.4%) largely favor the alliance. Similarly, Koeri/Kushwaha (66.2%), Dusadh/Pasi (59.2%), and non-Yadav OBCs (57.3%) are leaning NDA.

In contrast, Mahagathbandhan holds ground among Yadavs (56.9%), Muslims (68.1%), and Scheduled Tribes (53.2%). Interestingly, 32.5% of Yadavs are still open to voting for the NDA—a potential swing factor.

Why the 2025 Bihar Election Matters

The Bihar election 2025 is not just a state affair. It’s a litmus test for national alliances. The BJP-JD(U) partnership hopes to retain its dominance, while the Mahagathbandhan wants to reclaim lost ground.

For Tejashwi Yadav, this could be a turning point. If he converts CM preference into votes, it could redefine Bihar’s political landscape.

Meanwhile, Nitish Kumar faces a tough battle to protect his legacy. His shrinking CM popularity could impact the NDA’s campaign strategy.

Election Countdown Begins

Bihar will vote across 243 Assembly seats in November–December 2025. The outcome could influence the national mood ahead of 2026.

With political campaigning set to intensify, parties are expected to sharpen their messages around jobs, inflation, and governance.

As the poll season heats up, all eyes are now on Bihar.
