Bihar Election Results 2025: Full Winners & Key Takeaways

RR Team, November 15, 2025November 15, 2025
The Election Commission declared results for all 243 Bihar Assembly seats on November 14, 2025. The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) delivered a resounding win, securing over 200 seats. The BJP and its ally Janata Dal (United) emerged as the major beneficiaries, while the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress suffered major losses.

Seat Tally  Who Won and Who Lost

The NDA crossed the comfortable majority mark of 122 in the 243-member Assembly and ended with a tally exceeding 200 seats. Key party totals reported were: BJP  89 seats, JD(U)  85 seats, RJD  25 seats, and Congress  6 seats. Several smaller parties and regional formations won remaining seats.

The BJP increased its strength from 74 (2020) to 89 seats, while JD(U) surged from 43 to 85 seats. RJD’s count fell steeply from 75 in the previous Assembly to 25, and Congress dropped to six seats from 19.

Top Winners and Notable Defeats

The full winners’ list includes veterans and new faces across Bihar’s districts. High-profile wins for the NDA included many BJP and JD(U) leaders who consolidated support in their strongholds. Conversely, several prominent RJD and Congress candidates lost their seats a clear sign of shifting voter preferences.

Parties such as LJP (Ram Vilas) and regional outfits secured pockets of influence in specific constituencies, affecting local dynamics despite the NDA’s statewide dominance.

Vote Dynamics and Regional Trends

Analysts point to a mix of factors behind the NDA’s sweep: effective local campaigning, coalition coordination, and perceived governance record in several districts. The JD(U)’s resurgence suggests strong ground-level organisation, while BJP’s gains reflect both urban and rural consolidation.

The RJD’s decline highlights a loss of momentum compared to previous elections. Congress’s poor performance signals limited traction in key constituencies contested.

What This Means for Bihar Politics

With the NDA comfortably above the majority mark, the coalition will now focus on government formation and legislative priorities. The election outcome strengthens the NDA’s mandate in Bihar and could reshape political strategies for state and national players.

Opposition parties will likely reassess leadership, alliances, and campaign strategies ahead of future contests. Political analysts expect intra-party reviews and potential leadership changes in the wake of these results.

Where to Find Official Data

For official results and constituency-level data, readers should consult the Election Commission of India’s official portal and government releases. Additional authoritative information is available at the Press Information Bureau and the National Portal of India.

Quick Takeaways

  • NDA clears 200+ seats; majority mark is 122.
  • BJP and JD(U) both post significant gains.
  • RJD and Congress face steep declines.
  • Regional parties retain influence in selected constituencies.

The Bihar Assembly election, held in two phases on November 6 and 11, saw extensive campaigning and close attention from national parties. The decisive result on November 14 will set the political agenda for Bihar for the coming five years.
