A young computer engineer from Jamui district, Bihar, Abhishek Kumar, has achieved an impressive milestone by securing a ₹2 crore package at Google’s London office. Abhishek, a graduate of NIT Patna, is set to begin his new role in October, marking a significant step in his career.
Hailing from the village of Jamu Khariya in Jamui, Abhishek comes from a family that places a strong emphasis on education. His father, Indradev Yadav, works as a lawyer at the Jamui Civil Court, while his mother, Manju Devi, is a homemaker. Abhishek credits his family’s commitment to education as a key factor in his success.
This is my biggest achievement, and I’m very excited. Working at Google is a dream for many software engineers, and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work on impactful projects.
Abhishek’s educational journey began in his hometown, and he later completed his degree in software engineering from NIT Patna. His professional career took off in 2022 when he secured a ₹1.08 crore package with Amazon. After working there until March 2023, he transitioned to a role with a German investment firm’s foreign exchange trading unit.
Achieving success at Google wasn’t easy for Abhishek. He juggled the demands of his job while preparing for Google’s rigorous interview process, dedicating 8-9 hours to his work and spending his remaining time sharpening his coding skills and interview strategies.
Balancing work and interview preparation was tough, Abhishek explained. I had to create a proper strategy and stay consistent with it. Every spare moment was spent honing my coding skills and practicing for interview questions. This focused approach helped me crack the Google interview.
Abhishek’s success is even more remarkable given his humble background. He spoke about overcoming personal and financial challenges, explaining that his childhood home was made of mud. Today, with newfound success, he is building a new house for his family.
He shared a message for aspiring professionals: Anything is possible. I firmly believe that with dedication, any child – whether from a small town or a big city – can seize the biggest opportunities.
Throughout his journey, Abhishek remained driven by his family’s struggles, particularly his mother’s health issues. He worked hard to ensure he could provide them with a better life. Once we had the resources, we got her treated at the best hospitals. I always believed that education would bring happiness to my entire family, he said.
Abhishek credits his achievements to the unwavering support of his family, especially his parents and elder brother, who have been his biggest sources of inspiration.
