Bihar Voter List 2025: 21.53L Added, Patna +1.63Lakh

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has released Bihar’s final voter list for 2025, following a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) ahead of the state elections. The updated roll reflects a significant rise in electors, with Patna alone witnessing an addition of 1.63 lakh voters.
The SIR process, which aimed to update and clean the electoral rolls, added 21.53 lakh eligible electors and removed 3.66 lakh ineligible voters since the draft list was published in August. The draft roll had listed 7.24 crore voters, bringing the final count to approximately 7.42 crore electors across the state.

In Patna district, which covers 14 Assembly constituencies, the final number of electors now stands at 48,15,294, up from 46,51,694 in the draft list. The revision included verification based on eligibility as of July 1, 2025, and involved extensive on-ground work by over 77,000 Booth Level Officers, nearly 3,000 assistant officers, and more than 1.6 lakh Booth Level Agents representing all major political parties.

“The final publication of the voter list under the Intensive Revision Campaign ensures transparency and accuracy in the electoral process,” stated the Patna District Administration. Voters can check their names and details online through the ECI portal.

The revision also followed a July drive to remove illegal foreign migrants from the electoral rolls. While the EC asserts the impartiality of the process, opposition parties, including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, have raised allegations of irregularities. The Supreme Court is currently hearing a plea challenging the SIR methodology and may intervene if procedural lapses are identified.

The Election Commission emphasized that its operations are neutral, stating, “There is no ruling side or opposition in our work. The focus remains on maintaining accurate and credible electoral rolls for a fair election process.”

This large-scale revision underscores the EC’s commitment to electoral integrity ahead of Bihar’s crucial elections. With the final voter list now published, political parties and citizens alike are preparing for a smooth and transparent electoral process.
