BJP MLA Train Clash Sparks Safety Concerns and Outrage
🕒 What Happened on the Train?
The incident began when Rajeev Singh, travelling with his wife and son, asked co-passenger Raj Prakash to exchange his seat. Upon refusal, Singh claimed that Prakash responded abusively. Matters worsened when, after reaching Jhansi station, the passenger was allegedly assaulted by people linked to the MLA.
A video shared by journalist Piyush Rai shows the injured passenger and has triggered public outrage. “On board Vande Bharat, BJP MLA Rajeev Singh asked a fellow passenger to exchange seat. Latter refused. MLA dials his goons who board the train and assault the passenger,” Rai wrote.
📄 Police Action So Far
Following the incident, an Non-Cognisable Report (NCR) was filed by the MLA at the Government Railway Police (GRP) station in Jhansi. However, as of now, no FIR has been lodged because no formal complaint was filed by the injured party.
SP Vipul Kumar Srivastav told PTI, “We await a formal complaint. CCTV footage from the train and Jhansi station will be examined as part of the probe.”
📢 Social Media Reacts Strongly
The incident has ignited fierce backlash online. One user wrote, “No safety for passengers in Vande Bharat Express.” Another called for accountability: “@AmitShahji must expel such uncivilized members from BJP.”
A third post read, “This MLA must resign. Such abuse of power is unacceptable in a democracy.” The event has become a flashpoint in debates about political privilege and public accountability.
🚨 Lawmakers vs. Public: A Pattern?
This isn’t the first time a lawmaker has been involved in a public brawl. The question arises: Are elected representatives above the law? Critics argue that such incidents erode public trust and discourage citizens from asserting their rights.
🎥 What’s Next?
The police have assured that once the second party submits a complaint, swift legal steps will follow. Meanwhile, all eyes are on the CCTV footage, which could provide crucial evidence in the case.
