Patna, October 14 The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday released its first list of 71 candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, covering key constituencies across the state.
Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary to Contest from Tarapur
The first list features Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary contesting from the Tarapur constituency. Choudhary, who also serves as the Bihar BJP president, has been a central figure in the party’s organizational expansion in the state.
Other prominent names include former ministers, sitting MLAs, and several new faces drawn from diverse communities, reflecting the party’s attempt to maintain regional and social balance across constituencies.
Focus on Organizational Strength and Grassroots Reach
The BJP stated that the candidate selection was based on performance, public connect, and internal survey findings. Party leaders emphasized that the nominees represent a mix of experience and youth, with an aim to strengthen booth-level outreach.
The list covers constituencies from regions such as Magadh, Mithilanchal, Seemanchal, and Bhojpur. Party officials noted that the names were finalized after multiple review meetings led by the Central Election Committee chaired by BJP President JP Nadda.
NDA Coordination and Remaining Seats
The BJP is contesting the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 as part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) alongside the Janata Dal (United), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha, and Rashtriya Lok Morcha. The remaining NDA seat distribution is expected to be announced soon.
Sources indicated that the alliance partners have held detailed discussions to avoid overlap and to ensure smooth coordination in constituencies where joint campaigning is planned.
Election Schedule and Party Preparedness
The Election Commission of India (ECI) is expected to release the official poll schedule later this month. In anticipation, the BJP has already activated its state-level war rooms and social-media outreach teams across districts.
According to senior party officials, special focus will be placed on first-time voters and women beneficiaries of central welfare schemes. Training programs for booth workers and digital volunteers are also underway in several constituencies.
Background and Outlook
In the previous 2020 assembly elections, the BJP won 74 seats, emerging as the largest party within the NDA coalition. This time, the party seeks to consolidate its rural base while expanding influence in urban pockets of Patna, Muzaffarpur, and Gaya.
Party leaders expressed confidence that the combination of governance record, welfare delivery, and leadership under Prime Minister Narendra Modi will help secure a strong mandate in 2025.
