C.P. Radhakrishnan Urges Value Education at SRM Convocation

RR Team, November 8, 2025November 8, 2025
Sonipat (Haryana), November 8: The Vice-President of India, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, attended the third Convocation Ceremony of SRM University, Delhi-NCR, Sonepat, as the Chief Guest on Friday. In his keynote address, he lauded India’s growing reputation in global higher education and urged young graduates to embrace values, discipline, and hard work as guiding principles for success.

Degrees Reflect Values and Determination, Says Vice-President

Congratulating the graduating batch, Shri Radhakrishnan said their degrees symbolize not just academic achievement but also the values and resilience honed during their university journey. He praised the dedication of teachers and mentors, noting that the success of students mirrors the tireless efforts of their educators.

Emphasizing moral integrity, he stated, “When character is lost, everything is lost.” He reminded students that technical knowledge alone cannot ensure success without a strong moral foundation and disciplined lifestyle.

India’s Strong Global Presence in Higher Education

Highlighting India’s rise in global rankings, the Vice-President shared that 54 Indian universities made it to the QS World University Rankings 2026, making India the fourth most represented nation. He said this achievement demonstrates the government’s continued commitment to improving the quality and reach of higher education.

NEP 2020: Transforming India into a Global Knowledge Hub

Referring to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Shri Radhakrishnan described it as a visionary roadmap introduced under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. The policy, he said, promotes multidisciplinary learning, flexibility, and research-driven innovation, giving students the freedom to design their own learning paths.

“Such flexibility was unimaginable in the past. Students must make full use of these opportunities to excel in a rapidly evolving world,” he added.

Viksit Bharat @2047: Towards Inclusive Growth

Speaking about the government’s long-term vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, the Vice-President noted that the initiative aims for equitable and inclusive growth. He cited significant increases in enrolment among marginalized communities, women, and rural students due to scholarships, financial aid, and outreach programs.

“With the right education and skills, our youth can become the driving force behind a new, innovative, and inclusive India,” he remarked.

Balanced Approach to Life and the Power of Hard Work

Encouraging graduates to maintain composure in both success and failure, Shri Radhakrishnan said setbacks should be viewed as opportunities for growth. “Happiness is a state of mind, and hard work remains the only key to real success,” he noted.

He also urged students not to compare themselves with others, emphasizing that each person has a unique journey. “Consistent efforts and self-belief will always lead to meaningful outcomes,” he said.

Gratitude to Parents and Mentors

In his concluding remarks, the Vice-President reminded students to cherish their parents’ sacrifices and lifelong support. “Never forget your roots or the people who made your success possible,” he said, drawing warm applause from the audience.

The ceremony was also attended by Haryana’s Minister for Panchayats and Development, Shri Krishan Lal Panwar; SRM University Founder and Chancellor, Dr. T. R. Paarivendhar; Chancellor Dr. Ravi Pachamuthu; and Vice-Chancellor Prof. Paramjit Singh Jaswal.
