The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the Rithala-Narela-Nathupur (Kundli) corridor under Phase-IV of the Delhi Metro project. This 26.463 km extension will improve connectivity between Delhi and Haryana, with a completion timeline of 4 years.
The project, costing ₹6,230 crore, will be executed by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) through a 50:50 partnership between the Government of India and the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD). The corridor will consist of 21 elevated stations, connecting areas like Narela, Bawana, and parts of Rohini in Delhi, and extending up to Nathupur in Haryana, boosting regional connectivity.
The new line will reduce road congestion, help alleviate pollution, and expand the Delhi Metro’s network in the National Capital Region (NCR). This corridor marks the fourth Delhi Metro extension into Haryana, following expansions to Gurugram, Ballabhgarh, and Bahadurgarh.
The ongoing Phase-IV project, which includes 65.202 km of new corridors and 45 stations, is over 56% complete, with an expected completion date of March 2026 for the three priority corridors.
Currently, Delhi Metro operates 12 lines covering 392 km with 288 stations, serving an average of 64 lakh passengers daily.
