CDS Gen Anil Chauhan Chairs 35th Tri-Services Commanders’ Conference at Kochi

RR Team, November 13, 2024November 13, 2024

Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen Anil Chauhan chaired the 35th Tri-Services Commanders’ Conference (TSTCC) at the Southern Naval Command (SNC) in Kochi on 13th November 2024. The conference was attended by the senior leadership of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, including Commanders of all three services, officers from the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (IDS), and various other formations.

In his address, Gen Chauhan emphasized the crucial importance of jointmanship and synergy among the three services in training, which is vital for gaining superiority in the evolving multi-domain battlespace. He stressed that training must adapt to meet unique security challenges and prepare for future wars in a fully integrated, theaterized force.

Building on the discussions from the 34th TSTCC held in Shimla the previous year, the 35th edition focused on reviewing progress and developing future plans to optimize joint training across all three services. The conference also examined the changing geo-strategic dynamics of the region and discussed the need to refine training and doctrines to meet future challenges. Key discussions revolved around optimizing existing training infrastructure, resources, and utilizing the collective strengths of the services’ training establishments. There was also a strong focus on incorporating technology and modern warfare tactics into training strategies.

The TSTCC is held annually, with the training commands of each service hosting the conference in rotation. Its primary aim is to foster collaboration, improve training effectiveness, and share best practices. The forum enables staff officers from the training commands of all three services to come together and discuss joint strategies to enhance combat readiness and operational capabilities.

This conference also marked the first visit of CDS Gen Anil Chauhan to the Southern Naval Command. During the visit, he interacted with Vice Admiral V Srinivas, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, and discussed various aspects of joint training and tri-services issues. A detailed briefing on the role, functions, and capabilities of the Southern Naval Command was also presented. The CDS addressed the officers of SNC, sharing his vision and expectations for the future of tri-service cooperation and training.
