Centre Sells Over 12 Lakh Tonnes of Bharat Pulses to Consumers: Key Figures Revealed

Bharat Brand Pulses and Grains: Key Sales Figures and Updates

The Bharat Dal initiative was launched in July 2023 to provide affordable pulses to consumers. The government converted Chana stock from the price stabilization buffer into Chana Dal for retail sale at an MRP of Rs. 60 per kg for a 1 kg pack and Rs. 55 per kg for a 30 kg pack. This scheme is set to continue until September 30, 2024.

Recently, the Bharat Chana Dal program was extended with the allocation of an additional 3 lakh tonnes of Chana stock for retail sale in the form of Chana Dal and Chana Whole at MRP of Rs. 70 per kg and Rs. 58 per kg, respectively. Moreover, the Bharat Brand has now expanded to include Moong Dal and Masur Dal. Moong Dal (Dhuli) and Moong Sabut are being sold at MRP of Rs. 107 per kg and Rs. 93 per kg, respectively, while Bharat Masur Dal is priced at Rs. 89 per kg.

So far, a total of 12.35 lakh tonnes of Bharat Chana Dal, 5,663.07 tonnes of Bharat Moong Dal, and 118 tonnes of Bharat Masur Dal have been sold to consumers.

Bharat Atta and Bharat Rice

In addition to pulses, the Bharat Atta and Bharat Rice were launched to offer wheat flour and rice at subsidized rates. Bharat Atta and Bharat Rice were introduced on 06.11.2023 and 06.02.2024, respectively.

In Phase I, the MRP for Bharat Atta was Rs. 27.50 per kg, and for Bharat Rice, it was Rs. 29 per kg, available until 30.06.2024. In Phase II, the MRP increased to Rs. 30 per kg for Bharat Atta and Rs. 34 per kg for Bharat Rice.

A total of 15.20 LMT of Bharat Atta and 14.58 LMT of Bharat Rice were sold during Phase I. In the current Phase II, 2,952.25 MT of Bharat Atta and 3,413.35 MT of Bharat Rice have already been sold to consumers.

Distribution Channels

The Bharat Brand food items are available through a variety of distribution channels, including:

  • NAFED retail outlets and mobile vans
  • Kendriya Bhandar
  • NCCF (National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation of India Limited)
  • E-commerce platforms
  • Big chain retailers
