Clean Governance: MDoNER’s Campaign Success

The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) has successfully concluded the Special Campaign 5.0 on October 31, 2025, marking significant achievements in cleanliness, administrative efficiency, and public grievance redressal. The campaign, implemented from October 2 to 31 following a preparatory phase in September, aimed to enhance institutional hygiene, streamline record management, and ensure space optimization across MDoNER offices and affiliated organizations.

Focus on Cleanliness and Efficient Governance

The Ministry and its affiliated bodies  including NEDFi, NERAMAC, NERCORMS, NECBDC, NEC, and NEHHDC  conducted extensive cleanliness drives and administrative reforms throughout the North Eastern Region. These initiatives aligned with the Government of India’s continued emphasis on transparency, efficiency, and citizen-centric governance.

During the campaign, 36 cleanliness drives were organized across MDoNER offices and field units, achieving a 100% completion rate of the identified targets. In addition, 3,664 square feet of office space was freed through systematic decluttering and file management. The effort not only improved the work environment but also enhanced operational efficiency across departments.

Record Management and Grievance Redressal

As part of Special Campaign 5.0, MDoNER prioritized the review and disposal of physical and electronic files. A total of 217 physical files were reviewed and weeded out, alongside 32 e-files. This effort contributed to more efficient record-keeping and reduced paper clutter.

The Ministry also ensured 100% disposal of public grievances (46 cases) and cleared all VIP references and communications from Members of Parliament and State Governments. Through these measures, MDoNER reaffirmed its dedication to responsive and transparent administration.

Revenue Generation Through Scrap Disposal

In addition to operational improvements, the campaign generated tangible economic value. MDoNER reported revenue of ₹7,82,814 through the systematic disposal of scrap materials and unserviceable items. These efforts underline the Ministry’s focus on sustainability and efficient resource utilization.

Ministerial Oversight and Public Engagement

The Hon’ble Minister of MDoNER personally reviewed the progress of the campaign during an inspection at the Jodhpur Officer’s Hostel. Regular monitoring and periodic assessments by senior officials ensured the campaign’s success and alignment with its intended objectives.

To maximize awareness and participation, the Ministry leveraged social media platforms, sharing updates, visuals, and progress reports with the public. This digital outreach encouraged citizen involvement and showcased the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to good governance and clean administration.

A Commitment to Continued Excellence

Through the successful conclusion of Special Campaign 5.0, MDoNER has set a strong precedent for institutional efficiency and cleanliness. The campaign’s outcomes reaffirm the Ministry’s dedication to the principles of Swachhata, transparency, and accountability in public administration.

As the Ministry looks forward, it remains committed to sustaining the momentum generated by this campaign ensuring a cleaner, more efficient, and citizen-responsive administrative framework across India’s North Eastern Region.
