The Ministry of Coal has achieved a significant milestone in November 2024, with the overall coal production reaching 90.62 million tonnes (MT), a provisional figure. This marks a 7.20% growth compared to 84.52 MT produced in the same month last year.
Notably, coal production from captive mines and other entities has seen substantial growth, reaching 17.13 MT in November 2024, up from 12.44 MT in November 2023, reflecting a remarkable 37.69% increase.
For the financial year 2024-25, coal production up to November has reached 628.03 MT (provisional), compared to 591.32 MT during the same period in FY 2023-24, showing a growth of 6.21%.
In addition, coal dispatches in November 2024 also showed positive growth, with a provisional figure of 85.22 MT, up from 82.07 MT in November 2023, marking a 3.85% increase. Dispatches from captive mines and other entities experienced a sharp rise, reaching 16.58 MT in November 2024, compared to 13.19 MT in November 2023, reflecting a 25.73% growth.
Cumulatively, coal dispatches for FY 2024-25 up to November have risen to 657.75 MT (provisional), compared to 623.78 MT during the same period last year, indicating a growth of 5.45%.
The Ministry of Coal is focused on meeting the nation’s energy demands by enhancing production, improving dispatch efficiency, and ensuring the continuous availability of coal throughout the country.
