CPRI Inaugurates Advanced Regional Testing Lab in Nashik

Nashik, 11 Sept 2025: The Central Power Research Institute (CPRI), under the Ministry of Power, inaugurated its advanced Regional Testing Laboratory (RTL) at Nashik today. Union Minister Shri Manohar Lal Khattar officially dedicated the laboratory to the nation, highlighting its role in enhancing India’s power sector and electrical equipment testing capabilities.

State-of-the-Art Testing Facilities

The RTL Nashik is designed to provide cutting-edge testing services for a wide array of electrical and power equipment, including transformers, energy meters, smart meters, and transformer oil. By reducing turnaround times, the facility aims to streamline certification and quality assurance processes, supporting faster procurement cycles for utilities and industries in western India.

Key Dignitaries at the Inauguration

The inauguration ceremony was attended by prominent leaders, including Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Chagan Bhujbal, Minister of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Protection, and Shri Girish Mahajan, Minister of Water Resources & Crisis Management, Maharashtra. Members of Parliament, legislative assembly representatives, Ministry of Power officials, and industry stakeholders were also present.

Significance for the Power Sector

Shri Manohar Lal Khattar emphasized the importance of robust testing infrastructure in accelerating India’s power sector growth and self-reliance. He noted that world-class testing and research services provided by CPRI will align with global standards and facilitate innovation in electrical equipment manufacturing.

Shri Devendra Fadnavis highlighted the laboratory’s role in ensuring quality assurance and promoting the growth of Maharashtra’s electrical industry. Shri Chagan Bhujbal and Shri Girish Mahajan underlined its contribution to rural development, quality infrastructure, and strengthening state development policies.

Shri Asit Singh, Director General of CPRI, welcomed all dignitaries and emphasized that RTL Nashik represents a milestone in India’s national testing capabilities.
