On November 3, 2024, the Ministry of Culture continued its vibrant festival series, Amrit Parampara, which aims to bring India’s diverse artistic traditions to the forefront. Following a successful launch, the ‘Kaveri Meets Ganga program, the first event in this series, thrilled audiences with traditional music and dance performances at Delhi’s Kartavya Path and CCRT Dwarka. This initiative, inspired by the spirit of Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat, connects North and South Indian arts, reminiscent of Chennai’s famous Margazhi Festival.
Organized by the Ministry in collaboration with institutions like Sangeet Natak Akademi and Kalakshetra, the festival brings together renowned artists to revive traditional art forms, many of which are at risk of being lost. Enhanced with immersive technology, Amrit Parampara aims to create unforgettable experiences, honoring India’s artistic heritage and celebrating Sardar Patel’s vision of unity in diversity, marking his 150th birth anniversary.
The second day of festivities began at Kartavya Path with a captivating Shehnai performance by Jagdish Prakash’s ensemble, followed by a duet by S. Radhakrishnan on the Saraswati Veena and Mukesh Sharma on the Sarod. Audiences enjoyed a Carnatic vocal session by Ranjani and Gayatri, and the evening concluded with a dynamic Kuchipudi performance by Vasant Kiran and his team.
Meanwhile, CCRT Dwarka showcased the Symphony of Kalakshetra Foundation, followed by a Classical Dance Ensemble led by Shri Rahul Varshney. The evening concluded with a heartfelt Bhajan by Sooryagayathri, immersing the audience in India’s devotional music traditions.
Amrit Parampara continues over the next two days, offering Delhi audiences a journey through India’s cultural tapestry and fostering unity through the celebration of its diverse artistic heritage.
