Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Inaugurates 75 BRO Infrastructure Projects Worth Rs 2,236 Crore

Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh virtually inaugurated 75 infrastructure projects built by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), totaling Rs 2,236 crore. These projects include 7 roads and 12 bridges in Jammu and Kashmir, constructed at a cost of Rs 731.22 crore. Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, who represents Jammu and Kashmir in Parliament, also participated in the event virtually.

Among the key projects in Jammu and Kashmir are the Bishnah-Kaulpur-Khojipur road, the Basoli-Bani-Bhaderwah road, and the Galhar-Sansari road, which were completed under BRO’s Project Sampark. Additionally, several roads such as the Bandipur-Gurez road and Mohura-Baaz road, along with 12 bridges, were completed under Project Beacon. These projects aim to boost connectivity in the region, improving access to remote areas.

The projects inaugurated span across 11 border states and union territories, including the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. In total, the Defence Minister inaugurated 22 roads, 51 bridges, and two other projects, all constructed in challenging terrains and under harsh weather conditions.

Speaking at the ceremony, Shri Rajnath Singh praised the BRO for completing these projects in record time, highlighting that in the past five years, the organization has delivered over 450 infrastructure projects, amounting to more than Rs 16,000 crore. He also commended the BRO’s dedication in constructing more than 40% of roads in high-altitude areas with difficult terrain and extreme weather, further strengthening connectivity in border regions.

The event was held in Sukna, West Bengal, and emphasized the BRO’s critical role in ensuring infrastructure development in some of India’s most inaccessible areas.
