A powerful explosion in Rohini, Delhi, early Sunday morning caused significant damage but no injuries. The blast, which occurred around 7:47 AM, damaged part of a CRPF school wall and several nearby vehicles. This incident has raised concerns about public safety, leading to a police investigation, including a probe into a possible “pro-Khalistani” connection.
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), blaming the Central government’s failure to maintain law and order in the capital. She compared the current situation in Delhi to the era of Mumbai’s underworld, accusing the BJP of neglecting its responsibilities and focusing instead on disrupting the work of Delhi’s elected government.
Atishi further warned that if the BJP were to take control of the Delhi government, essential services such as hospitals, power, and water supply would deteriorate, similar to the current law and order situation.
In response, BJP spokesperson Shazia Ilmi accused Atishi of politicizing the incident for political gain, calling her a “puppet CM.”
The Delhi Police, along with other security agencies, is investigating the incident, including a possible connection to pro-Khalistani elements. Sources suggest the explosion could have been in retaliation for actions taken by Indian authorities against separatist groups. The blast, caused by an improvised explosive device (IED), was likely set up the night before and detonated via remote control or timer. While it caused property damage, it did not contain shrapnel, implying the aim might have been to send a message rather than cause mass casualties.
Later that day, a Telegram post by a group named ‘Justice League India’ circulated online, featuring a video of the blast and the slogan “Khalistan Zindabad.” The group warned Indian authorities, further intensifying concerns about extremist group involvement in the incident.
