Massive Seizures During the Operation
The operation saw the seizure of 21 country-made pistols, 20 live cartridges, and 27 knives under the Arms Act. Police also confiscated 6.01 kg of ganja, ₹2.36 lakh from gambling activities, and 12,258 quarters of illegal liquor. Vehicle seizures included six two-wheelers, one four-wheeler, and 310 mobile phones, alongside 231 two-wheelers seized for violations.
Arrests and Apprehensions
Delhi Police arrested 331 people under the Delhi Excise Act, NDPS Act, and Public Gambling Act, while 504 individuals were apprehended under various preventive provisions. Officials also apprehended 116 individuals identified as habitual offenders, along with five auto-lifters and four proclaimed offenders. Actions were also taken against 1,306 people under the Delhi Police Act.
Impact on Street Crime
Authorities reported a noticeable reduction in PCR calls about street crime in the South-East district due to intensified patrolling, vehicle checks, and night surveillance. The operation demonstrates Delhi Police’s proactive approach to making public spaces safer ahead of high-footfall celebrations.
Police Statement
Southern Range Joint CP SK Jain highlighted the success of the operation, emphasizing the focus on organized crime and habitual offenders. “Our intensified patrolling and preventive actions have led to a significant drop in street crimes in the area,” he said during a media briefing.
